New Year, Slightly Better Me

I’ve done the whole ‘New Year, New Me’ thing every year for as long as I can remember, and, without fail, have always given in and reverted back to my old ways before the end of January rolls around. This is because I  always set myself ridiculous, unrealistic and unsustainable goals to fix every little flaw. One year I set myself 19 resolutions! 19! Needless to say I didn’t stick to any of them. This year I’m not going to do that. Instead I’m going to set myself goals that are actually achievable, and try to make positive and sustainable changes to my life.

Pass my driving test

Almost exactly a year ago I re-started driving lessons, and while its certainly not my favourite way to spend my time, I do know that being able to drive and having a car would be something of a game changer for me. Now I just have to work up the courage to actually book, and hopefully pass, my test!

Start seriously saving for a house

I’ve been putting away little bits here and there into my ‘Get a House’ fund but not much. Now is the time for the serious saving to start, or I’ll never move out of my mum’s house and be a functioning adult.

Go back to the gym

Okay, so I have been going to the gym, just not nearly as much as I used to. I used to go everyday... I genuinely don't know how I did that. I want to get back in the habit of going 2 or 3 times a week, because exercising, in whatever form is a really good habit for me to get in to. Putting all the massive health benefits aside - not too far aside, they're still important - exercising regularly does wonders for my mental health.

Travel more

I'm in the very fortunate position where I get to travel quite a bit for work. I travelled loads last year! LOADS! I went to Copenhagen, Cologne, Dubai, Florida twice and Berlin. And I have developed something of a taste for the jet set lifestyle. I could see myself getting quite accustomed to it. Getting to travel for work is and has always been my dream, but I don't think I realised what that entailed before. This year I would like to travel more for me.

Organise my Youtube channel

After years and years, four to be exact, of having ‘Start a Youtube channel’ as one of my New Year’s resolutions, it’s so nice to finally say that I have one. This year I launched my channel LaurenWithTheRedHair! Now I just have to get organised and get all the content I’ve filmed -there’s a lot! - edited and online!

What are your New Year's Resolutions? x
