How to solve a problem like Bitch Face?

How to solve a problem like Bitch Face?
Monday 29 December 2014
Read post
Today I found out that it's more than likely that my family thinks I'm a bitch. None of them have said or would ever say this to me because they're really nice people but the fact that they probably think it isn't really surprising. I have a serious case of Bitch Face, it's not even resting Bitch Face I just have the face of a bitch. This is something I've dealt with before people take one look at my face, even when I'm smiling and happy, and assume I'm horrible or an enraged monster. I'm neither of those things it's just the way my face is.

Now you would think that because my family knows me they would know that I'm not a bitch BUT here's the thing on top of having a severe case of Bitch Face  I'm incredibly socially awkward, not in an adorkable Jess from New Girl aww isn't she cute kind of way but in an actual cannot cope with social situations so I come off as mean and desperate for attention. Which isn't the case.

These things separately are difficult to deal with but when added together every social situation becomes a nightmare. To the point where I'd rather stay at home by myself then go and turn into someone I don't know and don't like very much.

When I'm with my friends it's a totally different story but around my family I'm not very nice and try as I might I only ever seem to make it worse. I can't do right for doing wrong.

Take last night for example, last night me, my mum and step-dad went over to my Uncle's for a curry and a catch up with him and his family. And I came off terribly,  to them I must have looked rude and disrespectful and actually just really nasty. I knew it too, every time I said something I knew it was the wrong thing and I felt awful. I couldn't wait to get out of there because I genuinely had no idea what I was gonna say or do next.

I can't even tell you why this is a problem for me. They're really nice people but I'm not when I'm around them. There's no excuse really other then I panic, I get scared, I overthink, I try too hard and it all goes terribly wrong. It really doesn't help that I look mean and am just saying all the wrong things.

For the last couple of years I have felt like a bit of a blacksheep in my family because I'm really different from everyone but actually it's because I can't imagine that they think I'm a nice person and I really don't blame them for it. The worst thing is it's got to a point where I don't think there's much I can do about it. But I'm going to try... Fingers crossed.

The most worrying thing is if that's how I come across around family how badly must I be coming across to people who aren't related to me? What a terrifying thought!

If anyone else struggles or has struggled with this kind of thing and has any tips on how to cope let me know on twitter, by commenting below or dropping me an email at lolarocknroses@gmail.com. Also check out my instagram, facebook, BlogLovin & pinterest

Sorry this post has been a bit on the depressing side. Have a wonderful week and I'll be back soon and back to normal.

Until then...

December Favourites 2014

December Favourites 2014

Read post
I can't believe it's my last Favourites post of the year, where has 2014 gone?

Top L-R:  W7 In The Buff: Lightly Toasted Palette, Tom Ford Black Orchid, L'Oreal True Match Foundation in C2 Rose Vanilla. Bottom L-R: My Little Beauty Eau Micellaire Démaquillante, Dr Jart V7 Balancing Toner, Ingredients Lemon Hand Butter, Twinings Salted Caramel Green Tea, Nuxe Crème Fraîche de Beauté Masque Frais Réhydratant et Apaisant 24HR & Cinnamon Caramel Waffles.

My Little Beauty Eau Micellaire Démaquillante

I was debating whether or not to feature this as a favourite because I can't say I'm that crazy about it, and have definitely used better cleansers but this is the one I've been reaching for throughout December. It's just good at getting my make up off when I really can't be bothered to do my entire skin care routine and it leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed.

Dr Jart+ V7 Balancing Toner

I've been using the Dr Jart V7 Balancing Toner religiously every night because of my rubbishy skin and it has made all the difference. It has a light, refreshing formula that's full of vitamin complexes that target certain areas of problem skin but primarily helps to contain the production of sebum to prevent spots. It also promises to regenerate sensitive and damaged skin and in doing so reduces the appearance of scar tissue and hyper pigmentation caused by acne. Since I've added this to my evening skin care routine my skin has been looking a lot clearer and breakouts have been fewer and further apart. But it has to be said my absolute favourite thing about this toner is the pipette! It makes me feel like a scientist when I use it!

Tom Ford Black Orchid

This is a perfect Winter perfume, it's not too in your face or offensive in any way it's just a really lovely, wintery scent. With base notes that include Amber, Chocolate, Vanilla and Sandalwood and very floral top notes of Jasmine, Gardenia and Blackcurrant Black Orchid is just the most beautiful warm, spicy scent. Not only does it smell incredible the longevity is amazing.  One problem I have with fragrance in general is that my skin just eats it and more often than not the scent will have disappeared a few short hours after I've spritzed. This is so not the case with Black Orchid. It is so long lasting. I wore this to a family party last Saturday and could still smell traces of it on my skin the following Wednesday and I had showered a lot since! Just amazing.

Ingredients Lemon Hand Butter

Due to the cold weather and me being a hand sanitizer happy germophobe my hands have been in a right state lately. They're dry, cracked and sore, and this is the only hand cream that has been up to the task of getting them back to normal. The difference it has made to my parched hands is incredible! This is due to it's amazing buttery, and surprisingly non-greasy consistency that just melts into the skin, leaving my hands feeling moisturised and so nourished. To top it off it smells so good I want to eat it. I won't though.

Nuxe Crème Fraîche de Beauté Masque Frais Réhydratant et Apaisant 24HR (Soothing and Rehydrating Fresh Mask)

I've been singing this face masks praises for a while now because it's lovely. After all the bitterly, cold weather we've been having here in the UK my skin has been in need of some serious hydration. My skin's not been great anyway but the winter weather has dried it out so much. I've been using this face mask once a week to give my skin a much needed moisture boost and it has made all the difference. My skin is looking and feeling much better for it. It has a lovely formula that intensely hydrates whilst soothing irritation and cooling the under eye area. If that wasn't enough it feels so beautiful against the skin. I just put it on for 15 minutes and let it work it's magic. I love it.

W7 In the Buff: Lightly Toasted Eyeshadow Palette

Three points to anyone who can guess which cult beauty favourite this palette is an obvious dupe for! Everything about the W7 In The Buff: Lightly Toasted palette screams Urban Decay Naked! From the shadows themselves to the name and even the colour scheme of the packaging. The only real difference being about £30 in price. I picked this up in T.K. Maxx for £6.99 and have been obsessively in love with it since. The palette is made up of 12 shadows, predominately shimmers with a handful of mattes thrown in for good measure, the colours are perfect for everyday to smokey eye make up looks and everything inbetween. The shadows themselves are seriously good, they're longlasting and highly pigmented with a soft texture that is only slightly on the chalky side, but considering it cost under £10 this is to be expected. Overall it's a really good eyeshadow palette and a fantastic dupe of a cult classic. This is a perfect alternative to the Urban Decay Naked palette for those of you who are broke students, like myself, and want it but can't afford it. It's brilliant.

L'Oreal True Match Foundation in C2 Rose Vanilla

The L'Oreal True Match Foundation is my absolute favourite foundation! There I said it! A bold statement, yes, but I think this little beaut has earned it. It's incredible, it applies like an absolute dream, literally melting into the skin at the lightest touch. The coverage is great, I've been in need of some serious coverage of late and this is perfect. It's medium but can be built up without looking like it's been caked on. But more importantly it doesn't feel like you're wearing a lot of foundation because the formula is so light. Honestly I could bang on about this foundation forever because I love everything about it! The colour is a really good match for me, the finish is lovely, somehow managing to be both dewy and matte! What is this magic?! and has some serious staying power. I LOVE it!

I've also got some non-beauty favourites this month. The first of which is..

Sorted Food

Image via

As ever I'm really, really behind the rest of the world but oh my God! I am so OBSESSED with Sorted Food! Like actually obsessed! To the point where it almost makes me angry that I didn't know about them before. This is the level of obsession that I'm talking about here. It's getting to the point where I can't go on youtube, and I LOVE youtube, because I will inevitably click over to the Sorted Food channel and just lose hours, sometimes days, of my life watching their amazing and hilarious videos. And that's fine I would more than happily spend a day doing that and also definitely have done that... more than once. But you know sometimes I have plans, and things I need to do, it's rare but it does happen. Anyway my point is I seriously love love love Sorted Food. I'm even watching a video now as I write this. If you haven't seen any of their videos before you can check them out here. But be warned they're amazing and chances are you will fall in love with one of them, and that one will probably be Mike, because I definitely have. (Seriously he is all kinds of heart eyed emoji!!! And the one zesting the orange just fyi)

Cinnamon Caramel Waffles

Another foody thing. I love food. These cinnamon caramel waffles are delicious. Seriously I didn't think it was possible for something from a packet to taste this good. They're from Lidl or Aldi... I forget which and cost like £1, and they are so amazing. Yummy.

Twinings Salted Caramel Green Tea

I drink a lot of Green Tea, like a lot a lot. After being diagnosed with Acid Reflux Disease (the less said about that the better) two years ago I cut out milk to make the attacks less frequent, and whilst it has made a huge difference it did mean I had to give up my morning cuppa and find an alternative. Green tea was that alternative. Now the thing with Green Tea is it's an acquired taste and takes some getting used to, I'm used to it, but this is just straight up delicious. Non Green Tea drinkers could enjoy it because it's so yummy. I've been drinking it constantly because it's amazing! Twinings also have a Gingerbread Green Tea which is really nice too.

Have you tried any of my favourites? What did you think? Love them? Hate them? Let me know on twitter, by commenting below or even by dropping me an email. I'm all over social media so also check out my instagram, Bloglovin, facebook and pinterest (if you want too ;)

That's me for tonight, I hope you're all having a lovely festive time, relaxing and eating all the food.

Until then...

Review of This Works Beauty Ball

Review of This Works Beauty Ball
Thursday 18 December 2014
Read post

I'm a really terrible sleeper. Nights where I sleep for longer than 3 or 4 hours are few and far between. For me a good night's sleep is one where I'm in bed and asleep before 3 in the morning.  I love sleep but it doesn't love me in the same way, which makes it so much worse. It's particularly bad when I have an early morning ahead of me.  More often than not I'll be awake until the early hours and it's exhausting. But what I've come to realise in my years of insomnia is it's mostly anxiety related. Enter This Works Sleep Balm.

During one particularly nasty bout of sleep deprivation I decided to take the plunge and try out This Works Sleep Balm. I'd heard about the Sleep Balm on other blogs and the general consensus was that it worked,  so after spotting the Beauty Ball, containing the Sleep Balm, in T.K. Maxx, for the ridiculously low price of £6.99 (it retails at £12.99), I snapped it up.

I found the scent itself lovely and really soothing. The Sleep Balm promises a good night's sleep whilst simultaneously nourishing dry skin. You just apply the balm  to the pulse points and any particularly dry patches (particularly elbows and cuticles) and let it work it's magic.

So what were my thoughts on this teeny tub that seemed to be the answer to all my sleep deprived prayers. Well I'll tell you.

The pot is tiny, like really small,  about the same size as the average lip balm, but a little really does go a long way. The balm itself is nice, it has the texture of vaseline, which admittedly I'm not overly keen on, but it smells lovely. Made with soothing lavender oil, purifying rose oil and  hydrating monoi oil to both calm the mind and nourish the skin. Now that's all well and good but does it actually work?

I'll be honest because I am such a bad sleeper this didn't work as well as I thought it would, but I think that's more to do with me and the fact I need a mallet to quiet my frantic mind rather than anything else. I've taken prescribed sleeping pills before and they did nothing. So like I said I think I'm the problem rather than the balm itself. I was also fairly skeptical about the whole thing, which didn't help, as there is definitely an element of placebo about it.

Having said that this would be a great Christmas present for anyone who has occasional bouts of insomnia. The bauble is so cute, and the sleep balm is good and may actually stand a chance of working on a normal person.

Have you tried This Works' Sleep Balm? What did you think? Did it work better for you? Let me know on twitter, by commenting below, or even dropping me an email to lolarocknroses@gmail.com. Also check out my instagram, facebook, Bloglovin & pinterest

Well that's me for today, I hope everyone has an amazing weekend and everyone's getting super excited for Christmas, I know I am! One week left! EEEEEEEP! I'll be back on Sunday with a rundown of my favourite Winter Lipsticks.

Until then...

Lola Rocks #2...The Christmas Edition

Lola Rocks #2...The Christmas Edition

WARNING: This post contains some seriously cheesy Christmas Music!

Christmas Time is upon us once more, which means that, among other things, tinny Christmas Music has been piped into shops and on TV for a good 3 -4 months now… I’m kidding, well sort of.

Anyway I thought I would continue with the festivities by giving you a rundown of my top 5 festive favourites (music wise) to get you all in the Christmas Spirit.

Fairytale of New York by The Pogues feat. Kirsty McColl

AKA the best Christmas song ever and my absolute favourite. I defy anyone not to love this song. It's not Christmas without Fairytale of New York. It just isn't.

Where are you Christmas? by Faith Hill

This is easily the cheesiest Christmas song in all the Christmas celebrating lands but as it is from my all time favourite Christmas film, The Grinch (read more about that here), it had to be included. Once 1st December rolls around I have The Grinch on pretty much non-stop and I just love this song.  Cheesy? Definitely! But who doesn't love cheese?

All Alone on Christmas by Darlene Love & the E Street Band

Another song from another one of my favourite Christmas films, Home Alone 2! It's also in Love Actually (another fave) so obviously it's an amazing song. Why is it so amazing? Well it just sounds like Christmas and Joy. Not only that but it features the incredible E Street Band, who I love (insert heart eyed emoji) and Darlene Love has some serious pipes on her. I spent ages scouring youtube for the original music video featuring Macaulay Culkin - because it is epic AND the ninetiest thing to ever nineties - but alas! I couldn't find it. If you get the chance to watch it, and it will definitely be making the rounds on music channels, you need to because it's brilliant.

Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) by Joey Ramone

Okay so this is where I start to get some of my street cred back (Street cred? Do people still say that? Do I even have any? Did I ever have any?) Anyway this song is amazing.  Originally recorded by Darlene Love in the 60's Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) has been covered by everyone from Mariah Carey to U2. But in my humble opinion Joey Ramone's cover is the absolute best! I just love it. It's Christmassy but it's also rocky and I love that. You know I love good old Rock music.

Santa Claus is coming to Town by Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band

Regular readers will know that Bruce Springsteen is my favourite everything! So of course I love his cover of Santa Clause is Comin' To Town. It's just... epic!

River by Robert Downey Jr

All dem feels though! I added this in as a cheeky bonus but also because it is unbelievable. River, originally by the great Joni Mitchell, is such a beautiful song, mix that with Robert Downey Jr's incredible voice and I tear up everytime I hear it. Just beautiful.

Those are my favourite Christmas songs, but I wanna know what are yours? Let me know on twitter using #LolaRocks,  by commenting below or dropping me an email at lolarocknroses@gmail.com. Also check out my instagram, facebook, pinterest if you like pictures of dogs - who doesn't?!- and my Bloglovin. That's me for today but I'll be back on Thursday.

November Favourites 2014

November Favourites 2014

Read post

Top Row L - R: Quick Fix Facials Purifying Charcoal Mask for Congested & Lifeless Skin, KMS California Tame Frizz Taming Crème, Nuxe Masque Creme Fraiche de Beaute & Rimmel Glam Eyes HD eyeshadow palette in Brixton Brown. Bottom Row L – R:  Benefit They’re Real Push Up Liner, Maybelline Color Drama Velvet Lip Pencil in Berry Much, Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy in Dealer's Choice, Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Base Coat & The Body Shop Vanilla Bliss Body Butter

Last month I was trying out a lot of new products so I don’t have loads of favourites for November. Having said that those I do have are corkers. Let's do this!

Benefit They’re Real Push Up Liner

I was a big fan of this when it first came out (read more about that here) and then forgot all about it. But recently I've had the urge to wing my eyeliner and of course this is what I've been reaching for. The formula is blacker than black, ridiculously long lasting and doesn't crease, so we're already onto a winner! But what makes it particularly amazing is the applicator. Now I'm no slouch when it comes to winging my eyeliner but this is amazing. All you have to do is stamp the nib at the corner of the eye and... VOILA perfectly winged eyeliner everytime. It's amazing.

The Body Shop Vanilla Bliss Body Butter

I love The Body Shop Body Butters anyway but last month I was particularly loving the Vanilla Bliss Body Butter. As the weather has gotten steadily worse my skin has been in dire need of some TLC and the Vanilla Bliss Body Butter was just what the Doctor ordered. It has an amazing thick, creamy texture that feels lovely on the skin and is so moisturising. It leaves the skin feeling soft and nourished. Not only does it do incredible things for the skin but it smells so good, I want to eat it. I won't though.

Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Base Coat

This is the most incredible thing I've ever used on my nails ever. Ever! Essentially it's a base coat that hardens the nails so they don't break as easily. As a recovering nail biter I have the weakest nails. So even though I don't bite them anymore they are so weak that they just break all the time and I can't get them to grow. But this... this is amazing, the thing I was most impressed with is the fact that you can actually see it working.

Week 1

Week 2

Week 3

You can see that there is a noticeable difference week to week. Also, somewhat pathetically, this is the longest my nails have been in my entire life! Sadly my nails don't look like this anymore because I had a particularly nasty assignment for uni and I picked them all off. BUT I've been using it as a base coat since and they're quickly growing back. I only have one slightly negative thing to say about this and that is that you need to wait about 15 minutes for this bad boy to dry before painting your nails or they dry with a really weird, bumpy texture.

Rimmel Glam Eyes HD eyeshadow pallett in Brixton Brown

This nifty little pallette graced my lids pretty much for the entirety of November. Why? you may ask, well it's bloomin' marvellous that's why. The Brixton Brown Pallette is made up of 4 incredibly pretty and easy to wear neutral shades and 1 stunning brown red shade that try as I might I just cannot pull off. But together they create a really wearable smokey eye like it ain't no thing! The shadows themselves are quite finely milled and so buttery and soft in texture. They're also really long lasting and don't crease at all. Winner. Apparently this is a very good dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Eyeshadow Quad and as far as I can tell - not actually owning the Charlotte Tilbury quad - the only differences are 1. the price and 2. the Rimmel pallet has an extra shadow but not the copper glitter shade. Overall I think it's lovely and I will be getting a lot of wear out of it.

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy in Dealer's Choice

I have raved about the magic that is the formulation of the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Enamels and that is simply because they are the closest thing to perfect a nail polish formula can get so I won't bore you with the details (read more about it here and here). The colour is lovely and much like it's sister polish Up the Ante  is super versatile being both summer and winter appropriate. I love it.

Maybelline Color Drama Velvet Lip Pencil in Berry Much

Rumour has it that the Maybelline Color Drama Velvet Lip Pencils are a dupe for the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils. Now being a particularly broke student I don't know if that's true but I can definitely tell you that I am OBSESSED with this beautiful, beautiful lip pencil. It is incredible! Now I'm not a major fan of Maybelline under normal circumstances but this might be (whisper it) my favourite lipstick ever. Unlike a lot of other lip pencils this is not at all drying on the lips, in fact I kept forgetting it was there because it is so comfortable to wear. Add to that a beautiful, autumnal berry shade, a ridiculously long lasting formula and a student friendly price tag and you have got a winner on your hands.

Quick Fix Facials Purifying Charcoal Mask for Congested & Lifeless Skin.

Now it’s no secret that my skin has been going through something of a teenage rebellion recently. Which is incredibly annoying considering I'm actually 23 and (sadly) no longer a teenager! There have been blackheads, there have been mass breakouts and it's just been horrible. Even now my skin's not great but I honestly dread to think what it would be like without this mask. I've been using it twice a week for the past month and the difference it makes is just amazing. My skin is looking so much better, again not great, but there is definitely a noticeable improvement.

Nuxe Masque Creme Fraiche de Beaute

I've been using this after the Quick Fix mask and it is wonderful. I normally use masks when my skin is misbehaving and hormonal rather than for dryness and this is unlike any mask I've ever used. It feels incredible on the skin, the texture is that of a really beautiful moisturiser, it's really silky on the skin and is just lovely. It is so nourishing and takes care of any dry patches like it ain't no thing. Gorgeous.

KMS California Tame Frizz Taming Creme

If you're a regular reader you will know all about the struggles I have with my hair. If you're new to my small corner of the internet then all you need to know is that my hair is... well it's insane (read more about that here). No matter what I do it just has the tendency to frizz out Ronald McDonald style, which is not a good look for anyone, BUT particularly bad if you're incredibly pale and love a bold lip... like me.

Spot the difference

I apologise for the giant picture of my face! Anyway a lot of hair products made specifically for frizzy/curly hair either really weigh down my hair or leave my curls crispy and/or greasy looking. This does none of those things. It has a really light, creamy formula (that smells of vanilla!) that calms frizz and makes my hair more manageable. I just run a pea sized amount through wet hair or when it's being difficult and BANG the frizz is gone! Or greatly reduced anyway.

So those were my November Favourites. Have you tried any of them? What did you think? Love them? Hate them? Let me know on twitter, by commenting below or even by dropping me an email at lolarocknroses@gmail.com. I'll be back on Tuesday with Lola Rocks #2 The Chrismas Edition. Christmas Yankee Candles: A Review

Christmas Yankee Candles: A Review
Tuesday 2 December 2014
Read post

A couple of weeks ago I ran out of candles, and instead of buying more of the same I thought I'd give some of the festive Yankee Candles a go, and I was so not disappointed. They are lovely.

Yankee Candles in Holiday Baking & Christmas Treats.

Christmas Treats
 Christmas Treats

One of my favourite things about Christmas is all the baking I get to do and this candle totally brings Christmas baking to mind. Honestly it smells beautiful, of love, happiness and vanilla or like God himself (or Mary Berry) is baking the world's greatest and most delicious Victoria sponge. I now really want some cake. Anyway this candle is amazing, and smells so good I want to eat it.

Holiday Baking
Holiday Baking

Before this is burnt the smell is almost overpoweringly strong. All that changes once the wick is lit. It smells like cinnamon and baking gingerbread and it's lovely and so festive. The only thing is it's a little bit sweet for my taste, but it is very nice.

Christmas Treats is my favourite of the two and I will definitely be buying the full size, but they are both lovely. They burn nice and evenly, which is very important to me, and the scent fills the room without being at all overpowering. They just leave a room smelling Christmassy and gorgeous with a lovely, cosy glow.

Sorry for the crappy quality of the photos. Candles are a bitch to photograph, or they're just bad pictures, either way I'm sorry.

Have you tried the Christmas Treats or Holiday Baking Yankee Candles? What did you think? Love them? Hate them? Let me know on twitter, by commenting below or emailing me at lolarocknroses@gmail.com. Also have a look at my instagram, facebook, Bloglovin and pinterest if you want too :)
So that's me for tonight but I'll be back on Thursday with my November Favourites.

Until then...

Lola Loves... Christmas Movies Part 2

Lola Loves... Christmas Movies Part 2
Sunday 30 November 2014
Read post
Much like the movies of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay or Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Lola Loves...Christmas Movies has 2 parts! Tehe!

There's nothing I like doing more at Christmas time then snuggling up on the sofa with a blanket, a hot chocolate and maybe a snack or two and losing myself in a really good film. To me it's all part of the fun of Christmas. Here's Part 2 of Lola Loves... Christmas Movies. Enjoy!

Rise of the Guardians

onlinemovies.pro

Not to be confused with Guardians of the Galaxy, which I also love (read more about that here). I first watched Rise of the Guardians a couple of years ago with my nephew and it's been part of my Christmas viewing ever since. This is CGI animated goodness at it's finest. Featuring an all star cast that includes the wonder that is Hugh Jackman as the Easter bunny. Rise of the Guardians tells the story of the Guardians: Father Christmas, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sand Man and Jack Frost as they fight to save the world from the evil Pitch Black. I haven't watched it yet this year but I'm really looking forward to it.

Elf

Picture via: sleafordcinema.co.uk

10 Christmases have past since Elf first hit our screens (where has the time gone?!) and I have watched it every year since. It's an absolute classic. My favourite bit is when Buddy is trapped in Gimbels and decorates it for Christmas. The Grinch may be my absolute favourite Christmas film of all time but Elf is a close second. Will Ferrell is hilarious as the sweetly naive Buddy, it's set in my favourite place in the world (NYC) and is super quotable. I love it. 'The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.' Now speaking from experience this doesn't work but I do it anyway.

The Santa Clause

Picture via stuffpoint.com

I watched all of these films when I was a tiny little thing and then forgot all about them, until a couple of years ago when a friend at uni made us watch all three of them in a single sitting. We had a fantastic day but it reintroduced me to these films and I love them. Being a child of the 90s I grew up watching Tim Allen in Home Improvement om the Disney Channel and I think he's hilarious.

Jack Frost

Jack Frost just gives me all the feels, it's so sad but so good. For those of you who haven't seen it (you need to change that now!) Jack Frost tells the story of musician and father Jack Frost who tragically dies in a car accident on Christmas Day when driving home to his family. Before his untimely death Jack gave his son Charlie his harmonica telling him it's magical and whenever it's played no matter where Jack is he can hear it.  A year later Charlie plays the harmonica and magically the snowman he built earlier comes to life as none other than Jack Frost. It's a lovely family film that makes you feel all warm inside and makes you shed a tear or two. I love it.

Little Women

Little Women is a Christmas classic and one I've loved for a really long time. As long as I can remember actually. It's just so lovely although it does take a sizeable chunk out of your day so I recommend setting aside an afternoon just to watch it. I also recommend tissues. It's one of my all time favourites and if that hasn't sold you then the fact that it stars a young and incredibly handsome Christian Bale just might ;)

Edward Scissorhands

Another creepy yet amazing offering from the frankly incomparable Tim Burton. Edward Scissorhands is another festive staple for me. I love everything about this film, especially Johnny Depp's performance as Edward. How can someone who barely says anything convey such raw emotion? He is incredible.

So those are my favourite Christmas films! I love Christmas and I'm so gutted that I only get to watch Christmas films once a year. What are your festive faves? I'll be back on Tuesday with my November Favourites if things go according to plan.

Until then...
