2017 Beauty Favourites Part 1

2017 was a great year for new beauty finds. Not so much a great year globally, the less said about that the better, but for new beauty finds it was a cracker.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Mother and Nahz Fur Atoo - £17 from Debenhams

I completely fell back in love with bold liquid lipsticks last year. After  two years of wearing only neutrals or no lipstick at all it's been really nice. It kinda feels like I've remembered who I am... that might sound ridiculous but when my skin got bad, I didn't want to wear anything that would draw attention to it, so I stopped wearing bright lipstick. Not because I wanted to but because I was too self conscious. Now my skin is better, not great but better, I've completely  rekindled my love of a bold lip.

The two lipsticks that've been gracing my lips on an alternate-daily basis are two Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, Mother and Nahz Fur Atoo. These lipsticks are perfect! They're lasting power is unrivalled by anything else I've ever worn before. I'm pretty sure they last through anything. Cake, kisses, armageddon... you name it. Not only is their longevity insane but they are so comfortable to wear. They're not drying in any way and half the time I forget that I've got anything on. If that wasn't good enough they're really easy to apply, they go on really smoothly, there's no flaking, it's not patchy and they have amazing colour pay off. Speaking of the colour of these lipsticks is  gorgeous! Mother is a raspberry, pinky colour that is straight up beautiful, and Nahz Fur Atoo is the most bad ass wine red ever. I'm a big fan, as you probably can tell.

Aromatherapy Associates Support Breathe Rollerball - £18 at Aromatherapy Associates

This is one of my absolute favourite favourites from the past year. Now I never really thought I'd get into aromatherapy, but I wear this everyday. It has a really fresh scent, with notes of peppermint, tea tree, pine, and eucalyptus, which smells incredible. I tend to put it on first thing in the morning to perk me up a bit, and then throughout the day if I'm feeling stressed or tired. I also love the fact that it's in a roller ball. It's so handy.

The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution - £4.20 at Cult Beauty

When The Ordinary burst on to the scene early last year I went a little crazy and bought all but two of the products that were on ASOS, before promptly forgetting all about them. In my defence I have a lot of skincare so it isn’t as bad as it sounds...or it might be worse I'm not sure. Anyway I still haven't got round to trying everything that I bought, however what I have tried I've really liked. Particularly this.

The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution is a spot treatment that is designed to clear impurities and unclog pores. It contains salicylic acid, a BHA, to exfoliate and rebalance the skin, and witch hazel to reduce redness. I've been using it once a week as part of Makeup Savvy's 3-Step Pore Unclogging Treatment (which totally works by the way), and in the mornings for the past couple of weeks, and can already see that there is a noticeable improvement in my skin. I love it! And that price point is insane! No wonder it's nearly always out of stock. OBSESSED!

Nude ProGenius Rescue Oil - £58 at SpaceNK Out of Stock :'(

At the beginning of last year I had a really bad reaction to an exfoliator, which left my already dry skin parched, red and flaking. It was awful, and really painful, and I didn't know what to do about it. Then I re-discovered the Nude ProGenius Oil, which I'm straight up obsessed with, and it completely saved the day. It literally saved my skin. And I am not exaggerating. It really did. Within a couple of days everything had cleared up. It was... miraculous. Okay, that might be an exaggeration, but it is awesome. The anti-oxidant rich oil is designed to revive dull skin, smooth uneven texture and intensely hydrate. Which it does, it's also made from all natural ingredients and is just glorious!

Maison Margiela Replica Flower Market Eau de Toilette - £80.75 (on offer, usually £95) at Feelunique

This was a very expensive treat to myself in Dubai airport, even in Duty Free it was on the more eye-watering side of things, but it is bloody gorgeous so I can forgive myself the indulgence. Flower Market is part of Maison Margiela's stunning Replica collection, a range of fragrances designed to invoke special memories. Flower Market is obviously designed to smell like a flower market. Notes of rose, tuberose and jasmine keep it very feminine and floral, while notes of cedar and moss stop it from being heady and sickly. When I first bought this, despite already owning a sample, I did worry  that it would smell like old ladies, but it really doesn't. It's very crisp and fresh, and just smells absolutely divine. It doesn't just smell beautiful but it looks it too,  is very minimal but effortlessly gorgeous, and cool. I just love this perfume. It's amazing!

Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic - £18 for 250ml at Cult Beauty

When products have a lot of hype I react one of two ways, either I get completely swept up in it or I think it can't be possibly be that good and ignore it. With Pixi's Glow Tonic it was the latter, which is why it took me so long to try it. But I completely fell in love with it, fyi the hype is real,  after finally trying it in Florida earlier this year - I know we can get Pixi in the UK but it is so much cheaper in the US - and have been using it religiously ever since. Glow Tonic is a chemical exfoliator that is designed to tone and brighten the skin. It contains 5% glycolic acid, an AHA which gently dissolve dead skin cells, to reveal brighter, clearer skin. Other ingredients include: aloe, ginseng, witch hazel and horse chestnut to soothe, firm, tone and rejuvenate the skin. I'm on my third bottle of the stuff and  I'm obsessed, it does some really awesome stuff to my skin. Love it.

Elf Mint Maniac Lip Scrub Exfoliator - £4.50 at Superdrug

This is another find that I picked up in Florida, this time it was in beauty advent calendar from Target that was too massive to bring home. Come to think of it there was a mini Glow Tonic in there too... it was a great advent calendar. I get super dry lips, pretty much all year round, my fondness of matte liquid lipstick doesn't help. Enter Mint Maniac, a sugar scrub which both gently exfoliates and intensely hydrates the lips, leaving them soft and smooth. It comes in a lipstick tube which is ridiculously handy, and, not that this should matter because I definitely should't be eating it, but it tastes pretty good too.

Merci Handy in Hello Sunshine - £2.90 at Merci Handy

When it comes to hand sanitiser there are few that I haven't tried. Having hand-centric OCD means I always have a bottle of the stuff on me. And honestly I'm not fussy, as long as it kills germs then I'm good with it. That was until I discovered Merci Handy, a french brand that specialises in 'everyday products made with love', in a Birchbox. Merci Handy's hand sanitisers are amazing, they smell incredible and, more importantly, don't dry out my hands, which is a massive bonus. Hello Sunshine is my favourite, it just smells so nice, like suncream and holidays. My only problem is that at nearly £3 for 30ml this stuff ain't cheap. But to me, and my poor suffering hands, it's definitely worth it.

What were your favourites from last year?
