Beauty Rediscoveries

There are few things I enjoy more than stumbling across things I’ve forgotten I love. Whether it’s a song, book, podcast or, in this case, beauty product(s), I just love that feeling of rediscovery. It’s almost as satisfying as drinking a cup of tea while it’s still hot, which I never manage to do.

When I moved recently I made so many rediscoveries while I was packing up my childhood bedroom. So many. It's amazing the things you forget you own, like a stuffed Great Uncle Bulgaria, anyone? Just me?  Anyway here are just some of the things I forgot I had, but more importantly, forgot I loved!

I've had a longstanding love affair with this contour palette. Before this I always found Maybelline make up to be a bit hit-or-miss, but this really was a game changer for me. It's so goo, and I was so happy when I found a brand new, unopened palette under my bed. Finely milled and silky-smooth, this contour and highlight duo applies like an absolute dream and is ideal for creating subtle everyday contour-looks, which is really all I want it for, I ain't trying to be a Kardashian. Anyway, other than the packaging, which I think is unnecessarily bulky, I really like it. So, kudos to Past Me who bought it and then lost it so Future Me would find it.

This is hardly a rediscovery, my love for Kat Von D lipstick is long and well-documented, BUT this colour is one that I was completely obsessed with, until it got lost in the abyss, or, as it is otherwise known, my dressing table. Lovecraft is my perfect nude. It's not really a nude, more a muted brown-toned raspberry, but I have really pigmented lips, so on me it looks very neutral. Anyway, I LOVE IT. The colour is beautiful and the formula is awesome! Long lasting, nicely pigmented and comfortable to boot! Please don't ever leave me again.

I found this never-before-talked-about-but-oft-used-and-much-loved mascara down the back of my dressing table, and I was so excited when I found it that I did a little squeal. It is brilliant. Promising a 'stunning false lash effect', this mascara does exactly what it says on the tin, giving me seriously loooooong and volumised lashes. Its waterproof formula stays put - no flaking, smudging or clumping found here! - while the fibres improve the texture, curl and length of the lashes. It's heavenly. How I forgot about it I don't know, but I'm so very glad I found it!

Rimmel's Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation is incredibly similar to my beloved Lasting Finish Nude Foundation. In fact. I'm pretty sure Breathable replaced Nude in the Rimmel line-up, so even though this is a relatively new discovery/purchase I'm still counting it as a rediscovery because it delivers all the good stuff that I loved about the Nude foundation, with the addition of a giant doe foot applicator, which I'm obsessed with. It boasts a light weight formula that offers light to medium coverage with a fresh matte finish. It looks so natural on the skin but has incredible longevity. I's great and I'm a big fan.

Again this is more of a repurchase but I hadn't used it in a very long time. Years in fact. So, it came as a complete surprise to find out how good it is. With a light, gel-like texture, this all-purpose concealer packs a real punch in the coverage stakes, whilst still being very wearable and lightweight. There is no caking, no creasing and no bunching at all. Just great coverage. Honestly, It's excellent and has an amazing price point. I'm really impressed with it.

Tell me some of your beauty rediscoveries/recommendations xxx
