Current Haircare Faves

When it comes to haircare I am very, very set in my ways. I have difficult hair - wildly curly, completely untameable, prone to frizz - and I know what works - and what doesn't - and then stick to it. But since we've been in lockdown a lot of the stuff I'd normally use has become quite difficult to get hold of - I'm looking at YOU Vo5 Curl Defining Mousse - so I've had to make do, and in the process have uncovered a few gems, which I obviously had to share. God, I'm such a giver! (LOL!)

Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Papaya 3-in-1 Damaged Hair Mask (£6.99) - The Garnier Hair Food masks are universally good, I've tried all but the Aloe Vera one, which is designed for normal hair, which I don't have, but the others - Banana, Coconut and Macadamia and Goji and Soy - are all excellent. Papaya is my favourite.

Aimed at damaged hair, which I definitely DO have, the Papaya and Amla mask is a multi-use treament, that can be used as a conditioner, mask or leave-in conditioner. It is formulated with Papaya and Amla extracts to nourish the hair and reduce the appearance of split ends, even claiming to reduce up to half of your split ends in just one use. I've been using it for well over a year and I don't think that's true, however, there has been a noticeable improvement in the condition of my hair, which was parched, damaged and prone to breakage, but is now soft, smooth and less likely to break, although I still have a split end of two.

I tend to use it as a leave-in condition as it has a lightweight texture that melts into the hair without weighing it down or making it look greasy. It also smells incredible. This stuff is the best.

Cantu Wave Whip Curling Mousse (£6.99) - Specialising in afro and curly hair, Cantu formulates all of its products with Shea Butter, to protect and hydrate all curly hair types. Now, I'd never actually come across this brand before, until the Boots website suggested this instead of Vo5's Curl Defining Mousse, which I've been using for years and is sold out EVERYWHERE, but I digress.

To be honest, this wasn't completely what I was expecting, I definitely think its more of a foam than a mousse and it has a manual pump rather than an aerosol, but it's fantastic! The foam itself is really nice and creates defined, non-crispy and frizz-free curls without weighing down the hair. I even found that it made my normally Orphan Annie-esque curls looser, which I loved.

Colab Dry Shampoo in Unicorn (£3.49) - Not at all a new discovery but definitely one of my all time favourite hair products, Colab Dry Shampoo is the lazy girl's best friend. And I say that as a supremely lazy girl, who used to wash her hair everyday, often multiple times, and now only does it twice a week at an absolute push.

Colab has been my go to for quite some time, as it absorbs grease without leaving a white cast, leaving my hair refreshed with some oomph. I just love it! The Unicorn scent is my favourite because it smells amazing; of 'rainbows and pure fantasy'... apparently.

Boots Essentials Curl Creme (£1.99)-  This was recommended by my friend Michael, who has really curly hair and therefore knows what he's talking about. It's essentiallyy a styling cream that is aimed at natural curls. I haven't used it a ton, but based on the few times I have used it I've really liked it. Ity's really lightweight - are we noticing a pattern? - and adds definition whilst eliminating frizz, for smooth, non-crunchy curls. It's good and so cheap!!!

What are your fave haircare products at the moment?
