Last weekend me, my cousin Gemma (read her WITMUB here) and her beautiful baby boy piled into her car to go and visit my cousin and aunty, Gemma's mum and sister, in Lowestoft for a weekend by the sea. We had a really nice time catching up with everyone, eating good food and doing a spot of shopping. And while I was there I couldn't resist having a good old snoop through Jade's make up bag. Before we get properly started though I thought I'd provide some context for you lovely people. So Jade is my cousin, she's 17 months younger than me and she's also one of my closest friends. In our misspent youth, when we used to go clubbing and stumble home in the early hours of the morning, we used to spend hours getting ready together - she puts false lashes on like a boss and she doesn't even need them! -  and that would probably be the best part of the night, that and ending the night dancing to the Baywatch theme. Anywho here's whats in her make up bag.

Max Factor Lasting Performance Long Lasting Foundation in 106 Natural Beige - £9.99 from Boots

I love this foundation! I do try other foundations but I always come back to this one. It's my favourite. It's really comfortable to wear, it lasts all day and looks nice on. The colour is a really good match for my skin as well.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in 040 Soft Beige - £5.49 (currently 2 for £10) from Boots

I love this concealer! I like to use this under my eyes to brighten everything up, because it doesn't crease but it has enough coverage that I can use it over the rest of my face too.

Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in 006 Warm Beige - £3.99 (currently 2 for £10) from Boots

Rimmel is my favourite brand, they're so good but so affordable! This powder is really soft and has nice coverage. It keeps my make up in place without looking heavy and it's cheap too.

Bourjois Délice de Poudre Gold Bronzing Powder in 51 - £7.99 (currently buy 1 get 1 half price) from Boots

This bronzer smells incredible! Just like chocolate! It's very warm but not orange and you really don't need to use a lot to get a sun kissed look. I haven't had it long and it's already one of my favourite things. I use it everyday.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara - £7.99 from Boots

I love Maybelline mascaras, the Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara is another favourite of mine, but the Lash Sensational is the one I'm using at the moment. It makes my lashes look really long and defined, L: She doesn't need it, her and Gem have got ridiculously long lashes! it also gives them loads of volume and stays on all day. It doesn't flake or anything. I love it!

Lorac Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette - £40.20 from Amazon

Honestly I'm not really a massive make up person - L: She's really not, she once described the Urban Decay Naked palette as expensive crayons! - but I really love this palette. My sister, Gem, gave it to me and I really like using it. It's got a ton of colours, they're all really pretty and they apply nicely. I don't tend to use eye shadow a lot, unless Gem does my eyes, but when I do this is the palette I use.

Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Limited Edition Lipstick in 01 Red Nose Red - £5.49 (currently 2 for £10) from Boots

This is my favourite lipstick to wear on a night out. It's a classic red that looks really glamorous on. It's quite glossy but is pigmented and lasts quite well.

The Weekly Round Up #12: Too Faced, Max Factor Mascara & Music Obsessions

The Weekly Round Up #12: Too Faced, Max Factor Mascara & Music Obsessions

It's been another long week and honestly I'm really not looking forward to starting another one. Why is Friday night so close to Monday morning but Monday morning is so far away from Friday night? :( Hey ho I'll power through. Anyway before Monday morning can rear it's ugly head let's talk about some of the things I was loving this week.

Too Faced Absolutely Flawless Flexible Coverage Concealer in Vanilla - £9.00 (on offer, down from £15.00) from Too Faced

I picked this up in T.K Maxx for the bargainous price of £4.00 and have been showing it a lot of love ever since. It's an excellent colour match for me, it's very covering with a formula that is very liquid-y but also creamy. However it's not perfect, I don't use it under my eyes because it does tend to crease and if not blended out really well then it can look quite cakey. Having said that the coverage is fantastic and a little really does go a long way. I've found that the best way to apply it is to dot it on before my foundation and then blend in with the Real Techniques Contouring Brush, which I've been loving for concealer lately. This way it doesn't cake or crease but still gives me the desired coverage. I like it a lot but I have seen some negative reviews online so I think it might be a bit of a marmite product. Let me know what you think if you've tried it.

Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara in Brown Black - £10.99 from Boots

I discovered this mascara a while back, before Christmas actually, but have been using it a ton lately.  I was really disappointed when I first got it because I accidentally picked it up in the wrong colour and was a bit put off by how brown it looks in the tube but it looks pretty black on the lashes so it's all good. Personally I don't think that it lives up to it's promise of a false lash effect because it makes my lashes look really natural. It's one I reach for on no make up make up days because the thick rubber wand really lengthens and defines the lashes but doesn't give them any volume at all. It just looks like I'm having a really good lash day, still I've been wearing it a lot lately because it is a good mascara.

So onto the music. Over the last couple of weeks I have been really obsessing over two bands that I used to nurse major obsessions for in my angsty, over eyelinered teenage years. And then I completely forgot about one of them and the other one I've always loved but recently recovered my intense appreciation for. The first one is the All-American Rejects, the second is The Killers. I used to seriously love the All-American Rejects! The obsession with Tyson Ritter and his beautiful blue eyes was so real when I was 16. I've been listening to their first album Move Along a lot. Like a LOT a lot. It Ends Tonight is such a good song. Other favourite songs of theirs are Swing Swing (obviously), Gives You Hell and Dance Inside. As for The Killers, I LOVE them. Always have. Their albums just get better and better. I've been showing Battle Born and Direct Hits a lot of love lately. I'd definitely recommend giving Battle Born, Runaways, The Way it Was, Here with Me, Miss Atomic Bomb - you know what just listen to the entire Battle Born album, because it is seriously great.

Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation Review

Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation Review

It's been a while since I changed up my foundation but with skin that can at best be described as tricksy, and at worst acne riddled, I thought it was about time I mixed it up when it comes to bases. And as my bestie - the Ann to my Lesley - has been raving about this stuff for ages, like seriously ages, I thought it was time to give it a try, PLUS there was a free gift so obviously I wasn't able to resist.

So let's get down to the nitty gritty. Miracle Touch is a compact foundation that comes in a small glass tub with a black lid that plays host to a very basic make up sponge. I understand why it has to be stored this way, due to the super thick formulation of the product, but I have to say really not a lover of the packing. It doesn't feel particularly hygienic to dip my fingers into something I'm putting on my face, regardless of how clean they definitely are... but maybe that's just me.

The product itself is lovely, it has a really thick, almost waxy formula in the pan but when applied to the skin it becomes really liquid-y - I'm sure there's a better way of saying that.. fluid maybe? No not fluid! - and applies seamlessly. I've found the best way to apply it is with fingers, because they warm up the product and really work it into the skin but it does apply nicely with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush as well, shockingly I haven't used the sponge.

The formulation itself is lovely, it gives excellent coverage without looking cakey or giving you creepy-mask face. It's also really buildable, so you don't necessarily need a concealer, you can just pile this on the places that need extra coverage. The finish is also really nice, particularly for something this high coverage. I would expect it to be quite matte and a bit flat but it's actually quite dewy and fresh looking. Really my only complaint is the packaging, which is pants, but seriously other than that it's a great foundation.

Have you tried Max Factor's Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation? What did you think? If not what foundation are you loving right now? Anything I should be trying?
